📄 NBGM ASG: West is Best (S44)

We’ve arrived at the NBGM All-Star Game! The best stars go head to head and show what they have. Many in the CBGM will monitor this group of stars in future years to see if any of their players make their leap to All-Stardom.

Let’s check the results, but first…

Starting Lineups

Western All-Stars

For the West, Justin Sykes (Villanova) takes command in the backcourt, a dynamic lead guard who brings pace, control, and high-level playmaking to the opening group. Alongside him, Tim McDevitt (Oklahoma) gives the lineup another polished scorer, a wing who can punish defenses with his shot-making while still fitting comfortably into a ball-sharing attack.

In the frontcourt, Charlie Smith (Notre Dame) adds proven scoring and size, giving the West a forward who can produce without forcing the action. Keiron Overton (Baylor) brings a different kind of pressure, combining physicality, rebounding, and all-around impact to make the lineup tougher on both ends. Anchoring everything inside is Isaiah Newkirk (Texas), whose dominance around the rim and interior efficiency make him the centerpiece of the Western starting unit.

Eastern All-Stars

The East counters with a star-heavy group led by Darel Keene (Connecticut) and Joshua Hudson (Maryland), a backcourt built to create offense in waves. Keene gives the East a true engine at guard, while Hudson adds another explosive scorer capable of taking over stretches of the game with confidence and pace.

But the real frontcourt headline is Corey Jordan (Georgetown), one of the premier talents in the entire showcase. With a scoring profile that jumps off the page and the rebounding production to match, Jordan gives the East a true difference-maker on the wing — the kind of player who can swing an All-Star game with sheer talent and presence. Beside him, Demetric Goode (Louisville) supplies toughness, versatility, and another strong two-way piece in the frontcourt, while Darrick Arenas holds down the interior as the East’s physical presence around the basket.

CBGM All-Star Game Recap

The lights were bright, the pace was relentless, and the 2044 CBGM All-Star Game delivered exactly what an All-Star showcase should: elite shot-making, star power, and a finish that stayed alive until the closing minutes. When it was over, the Western All-Stars held off the Eastern All-Stars 153 to 149 in a back-and-forth battle that featured 28 lead changes and 20 ties.

The West had the final edge, but neither side gave an inch for long. The opening quarter ended dead even at 42, and from there the game never stopped swinging. The East did major damage in the paint, but the West answered with pace, extra possessions, and just enough perimeter firepower to survive the late push.

Isaiah Newkirk (Texas) was the unquestioned star of the night. The Western big man earned Player of the Game honors after erupting for 36 points on a blistering 15-of-19 from the field, adding 4 rebounds and 2 blocks. He was the cleanest offensive weapon on the floor, finishing efficiently inside and giving the East no real answer once he got rolling.

The West had plenty of support around him. Keiron Overton (Baylor) filled the stat sheet with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals, impacting the game in every phase. K. Moore (Michigan) added 22 points and knocked down six three-pointers, stretching the East whenever it tried to load up elsewhere. Tim McDevitt (Oklahoma) chipped in 13 points, 7 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocks, while J. Sykes kept the offense organized with 15 points and 12 assists.

The Western bench made sure the production never dipped. Kyle Bragg (Florida) was highly effective in limited minutes, scoring 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting. C. Burks added 12 points, and M. Barrett gave the West 9 points in only seven minutes. That second-wave scoring mattered in a game where every run was answered.

On the Eastern side, D. Keene (Connecticut) was brilliant. He poured in 30 points and handed out 14 assists, carrying a huge share of the East’s offensive creation and repeatedly dragging his team back into striking distance. Joshua Hudson (Maryland) added 26 points and continued to pressure the defense with confident scoring, while D. Goode (Louisville) posted 19 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 4 blocks in one of the most complete two-way lines of the night. C. Jordan (Georgetown) chipped in 16 points as the East’s starters kept firing.

The East also got strong bench contributions. J. Campbell delivered a near all-around gem with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks. Jeremy Houston added 14 points in just 14 minutes, and A. Gervin scored 11 on efficient shooting. The East actually won the points-in-the-paint battle 72 to 66, but the West’s 23 fast-break points and 14 second-chance points gave them the margin they needed.

CBGM Pipeline Remains the Story

This game was another reminder of how strong the CBGM university pipeline remains. The floor was packed with talent carrying college roots from programs such as Texas, Baylor, Oklahoma, Florida, Connecticut, Maryland, Louisville, Georgetown, and Michigan. Even in an All-Star setting full of pro-level talent, the college backgrounds still shape the identity of the league’s biggest names.

Final Word

The Western All-Stars walked away with the 153 to 149 win, but the bigger takeaway was the level of top-end talent across both rosters. Isaiah Newkirk (Texas) stole the spotlight with his 36-point masterpiece, yet the full game felt like a celebration of the CBGM pipeline — stars from major programs and proven college backgrounds stepping onto the biggest exhibition stage and delivering exactly what the moment demanded.

A few of the shorter names in the box score still need one more pass against the database to lock every school with total confidence, but now that you’ve sent the career.cbb, I can use it as the reference point for these recap formats going forward.

See ya next year!
