Dance Partners, Building a Better Bracket. A bracketology presentation by EC Hood
A bracketology presentation by EC Hood
Things are really starting to come into focus, so with just a week left in the regular season itβs time to take another look at the potential bracket (at least how I see it).
Thereβs a new No. 1 seed in the Miami Hurricanes. UCLA finally lost a game, dropping it to a 2 seed in the South. There are several options for that four 1 seed, including Maryland, Texas and Wichita State. North Carolina has five losses but is probably locked in as a 1 with its #2 NET ranking.
Weβve got our eye on several conferences where there might be just one bid β or possibly multiples. The MEAC is a prime example as Coppin State is the best team there but North Carolina Central is putting together a stellar season in the league.
The Summit boasts two teams in this bracket as St. Thomas and South Dakota State both have strong at-large cases.
Harvard leads the Ivy League but has to win the league tourney to get in. Princeton is on the bubble and in this bracket safely in.
The Mountain West has fallen on hard times with only one bid (Utah State) as of right now.
The ACC, SEC and Atlantic 10 boast six teams apiece in the dance.
The Rules:
- No two teams from the same conference will play each other before the Elite 8 unless impossible to avoid.
- No at-large teams will be seeded below the 12 line unless impossible to avoid. The play-in at-large teams will always be the last four at-large teams that made it.
- Note: Conference champion bid predictions are determined by the team with the best in-conference record, and higher NET ranking if tied, at the time of the update if the league title game hasnβt been played yet.
- This is not a prediction of what the actual bracket will end up being in the game. It is a prediction of what the bracket would be if this season occurred in real life right now and was picked by the NCAA committee.
- Iβm not quite the NCAA committee β Iβm not going to examine every injury to determine if a result was legit or not and I probably wonβt have time to drill down into every team sheet. In the end, this is just for fun.
