Dance Partners, Building a Better Bracket. A bracketology presentation by EC Hood

The regular season has come to a close and conference tournaments are getting underway. Itβs the best time of the CBGM year, when seasons are made or broken. A new bracket is in order!
With conference tournaments not yet begun, this bracket will have a short shelf life. Upsets are sure to screw up everyoneβs plans, and we will have another update or two as we get closer to Selection Sunday. For now, weβve chosen league champions based on seeding and NET ranking, so the best teams in every conference are predicted to receive an at-large bid. As we know, thatβs not whatβs going to play out.
Teams such as Arkansas Pine Bluff, Campbell, Akron, American, Incarnate Word and Middle Tennessee could make things complicated on the bubble if any were to falter in their conference tournaments. What we will be watching for this week are any spoilers β teams that werenβt going to make it as an at-large stealing an automatic bid.
The bubble is already stuffed with pretty good teams. Michigan is the first team out and probably need a strong showing in the Big 10 tourney to get in the good graces of the committee. Arizona State is the last team in even with 20 wins. BYU, Arizona, Marquette and many others have a great chance this week to get hot and improve their chances.
There are No. 1 seeds up for grabs too. Right now, only Notre Dame is a lock for a 1 seed. In this bracket, Georgetown, USC and Baylor get the other top seeds, while North Carolina, Texas, Louisville and Kansas State are the 2s, and could move up if they win out this week.
