 📄 2044 EC Hood’s National Awards

Check out this EC Hood’s National Awards!

As predicted before the season, the story of the 2043-44 season has been the freshmen. Eleven of our 15 All-Americans, including the National Player of the Year and National Defensive Player of the Year are freshmen. What a crop! The NBGM draft is going to be generational.

NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Donald Caron, Fr., G, Missouri

31.5 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 2.4 SPG, 4.6 APG

To no one’s surprise, Donald Caron of Missouri leads the way in terms of accolades. His National Player of the Year bona fides are bullet-proof, as his 31.5 points per game paces the association by a lot. The second-highest scorer, Eli Wallce of Maryland, is at an impressive 26.9 but still trails Caron by 4.6 per game. Caron did it all for the Tigers, including leading them to a Top 10 spot in the polls all season and 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

NATIONAL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Roger Mooney, Fr., C, Baylor

14.0 PPG, 11.3 RPG, 2.4 BPG, 1.8 SPG

Baylor freshman Roger Mooney entered the year as the No. 6 overall recruit and didn’t disappoint en route to our National Defensive Player of the Year award. He finished second in the nation in blocks per game while averaging a mind-boggling 1.8 steals from the center position.

NATIONAL MID-MAJOR PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Mike Williams, Sr., C, UC Davis

22.4 PPG, 8.4 RPG, 1.8 BPG

A guy like this would have made a ton of NIL money in real life taking his talents to a high major, but Mike Williams decided to play out his senior year at UC Davis, and what a year it was. Williams finished third in the nation in scoring, improving almost nine points per game from his junior year. His 1.8 blocks per game was also very impressive.

NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR

Ron Farrell, Charlotte

Not many prognosticators had Charlotte going 29-7, ranking 16 in the Top 25 poll, and winning the American Athletic Conference en route to a 4 seed in the Big Dance. Fantastic season for them.

EC Hood

EC Hood recently joined CBGM after many years playing DDSCB solo and running alt-history postseason tournaments using spreadsheets and Tournament Maker. When not dreaming of an editable bracket in the game and/or annoying Gary Gorski with the request, EC is the CBGM head coach of Rhode Island, Stanford, Alabama & Akron. For a while in the real world, he was a stats/PR guy at several NCAA Division I college athletic departments.
