π 2043 Top 25 Rankings: Update Jan 23rd
The updated CBGM Top #25 Poll is out. Check out who’s in the top 5, the top 10!
New No. 1, Same Standard of Power
Baylor (18β2) takes over the top spot and itβs fully earned. Baylorβs recent run through elite competition has validated them as the most complete team in the country right now. Their consistency on both ends is what separates them from the rest of the field.
Right behind them, North Carolina (18β1) remains steady at No. 2, continuing to stack wins and threaten for the top line every week. Kansas (16β3) holds firm at No. 3, showing resilience after early turbulence.
The Biggest Climbers
Wichita State surges into the Top 4, jumping to No. 4 with a statement rise. Their recent stretch has been one of the strongest in the nation.
Minnesota also climbs into the Top 5, signaling that their fast start is no fluke.
In the middle tier, Gonzaga moves up two spots to No. 9, while Butler and Notre Dame both trend upward into the low teens.
Outside the Top 15, Creighton makes one of the biggest jumps of the week, climbing three spots to No. 19. Saint Maryβs continues its steady rise into the Top 20 as well.
Teams Trending the Wrong Way
Purdue takes the biggest hit in the Top 10, dropping two spots to No. 6.
West Virginia slides at No. 10, while Maryland continues to fall and now sits at No. 11 with growing pressure.
The biggest red flag right now belongs to Louisville, which drops three spots to No. 22 after another unstable week. Mississippi State also slides toward the edge of the poll at No. 25.
Holding Their Ground
Teams like Stanford, VCU, LSU, Oklahoma State, and Iowa remain locked in place, showing stability but still searching for a breakout result to move higher.
The Big Picture
This poll shows a clear power shift at the very top with Baylor asserting control, while chaos continues in the 10β25 range. Several traditional powersβLouisville, Maryland, and Purdueβare trending down just as Wichita State, Minnesota, Creighton, and Saint Maryβs gain real momentum. The middle of the country is extremely volatile, and weekly swings are now becoming the norm instead of the exception.
